Hate him, love him, say what you may, Mugabe is an intelligent, failed grown up

All the current 13 SADC heads of state and government were born several years after President Mugabe was already a little somebody.

President Mugabe holds a handful of university degrees including economics and law, underlining his intellectual capacity.

The Democratic Republic of Congo President Joseph Kabila who visited Zimbabwe recently to try to knock some sense into President Mugabe’s head, is only 38 years old, meaning he is not even half his age.

In short, President Kabila qualifies to be President Mugabe’s son or even grandson. President Mugabe is so much politically experienced as both African statesman and national leader.

President Mugabe was 100% correct to tell Mr. Kabila that he was a fully grown up in terms of numbers years (86) and intelligent old man (number of degrees acquired).

But this was simply a question of easier said than done. President Mugabe’s failure to comprehend the simple fact that when small and young men like Kabila come to him countless times to try to knock some sense into his head, his argument that he is a grown up and intelligent man falls away since lacks basic human logic because it is related in any way to human progress and prosperity.

Assuming President Mugabe is really the legitimate Head of State and Government as well as the Commander – in – Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, why is it that he is failing to lead intelligently and maturely his inclusive government (IG)?

I did not want to make reference to Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s role because we are told he is simply a mere senior minister in the IG, thus making the leadership capacity of President Mugabe all decisive and defining.

With the powers vested in the President or purported to be vested in him, why is it that it has taken all this time for him to fully implement the Global Political Agreement and effectively run the IG?

If President Mugabe is the appointing authority why is he afraid or that difficult to appoint lower ranking state officials like provincial governors, reserve bank governor, permanent secretaries, etc. who at end of the day report to him directly and indirectly?

Does he need the wisdom of young Kabila to be lectured on how to successfully run an IG or unity government?

President Mugabe instead of demonstrating his maturity, wisdom and political intelligence as he claims, he is simply choosing to be unnecessarily lunatic, stubborn and mischievous with state power and authority he so much wields.

Only fully paid political mercenaries like Professor Jonathan Moyo would deny the painful fact that the problems facing Zimbabwe today are stemming from President Mugabe’s refusal to grow up and apply fully his wisdom and intelligence ahead of his greed for power.

The convenient failure by President Mugabe to admit this naked reality which most of his SADC colleagues are able to see but shy to tell him the truth, simply points to the fact that he is a failed grown up and unintelligent man.

The GPA and the subsequent SADC Communiqués are so clear on what needs to be done for Zimbabwe to be united, reconciled and attain the much needed social, economic and political stability, transformation and prosperity.

SADC must categorically reject President Mugabe’s misplaced conception that the full implementation of the GPA and full throat operation of the IG have something to do with the so called illegal regime change agenda” of the West.

It is high time that SADC tells President Mugabe the truth about the irreversibility of democratic transformation in the region and the whole of Africa and expose his naked power greed and wicked political tactic of denying Zimbabweans the political reforms they clamour for as reflected by the March/08 elections, by linking this to imagined illegal political activities.

President Mugabe’s recent utterances among them the accusation that the Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai was mentally retarded simply proves the opposite about his grown upness and intelligence.

It does not need Zimbabweans to borrow the mind set of political prostitutes – cum – scientists like Professor Jonny Come Late Moyo to know that President Mugabe and Zanu PF do not like the GPA and IG.

It does not need the twisted views of a political chameleon in the mold of Jonathan Moyo to convince SADC that President Mugabe is backtracking with regards the full implementation of the GPA.

SADC does not need the help of anyone to know that President Mugabe’s political lakees like Jonathan Moyo will not tire until the IG is destroyed.

It is increasingly becoming clear to every Zimbabwean that Zanu PF and President Mugabe are once again beginning to fully apply the political poison as per prescription of a politically irrelevant Jonathan Moyo.

At 86 years old President Mugabe has proved beyond any shadow of doubt that in terms of sustainable nation/state building, he is just a good political toddler and deranged whose legacy now lies in tatters.

By permitting young SADC leaders to run around doing everything to cover up or somehow resolve his own messy, President Mugabe has a little to show and prove the validity of his claims that he is an intelligent elder.

It does not need the young generation of SADC leaders to come out everyday on international televisions and radios expounding and defending the goodness of the GPA and IG to leaders like President Mugabe who claim are grown ups, intelligent and know what is best for Zimbabwe and Zimbabweans.

In Shona wisdom we say “never let dogs to be ashamed of you in your presence”. If the truth is said, the majority of SADC leaders are tired, ashamed, frustrated and angry with the way President Mugabe and Zanu PF have failed Zimbabwe and Zimbabweans in every respect.

President Mugabe in all fairness has failed dismally to show the high values of a statesman and wisdom of an experienced revolutionary leader.

Refusing, denying, rejecting and resisting political, social and economic reforms and stalling IG progress have become his political trademark.

Whilst SADC initially sympathized with him on historical and revolutionary terms, his apparent failure to cultivate a shared national vision, lack of love for his own people as demonstrated by his preference for state violence to suppress dissent as well as his failure to promote progressive internal political renewal both in his own Zanu PF party and Zimbabwe as a whole, have all helped to expose his political wickedness as power greed leader.

If President Mugabe as our leader loved Zimbabweans the way he loves his family, for which he has sacrificed so much pride crouching for better education for his daughter in the comfort of Hong Kong as well as directing the RBZ governor to make available huge some sums of foreign currency to his wife on demand to luxuriously shop in the Far East, Zimbabwe would be better off by now.

In his current political mind set President Mugabe is a threat to SADC solidarity and unity, to Zimbabwe’s recovery, progress and prosperity. The only fool who can deny this is political prostitute Jonathan Moyo.

It is now time for SADC to deal decisively with President Mugabe’s cunning but equally destructive political behavior which day and night abuses and misuses the history of Africa, its people, their progressive revolutions and conquest in the form of independence and sovereignty.
